About the Festival
Gujarat's forgotten flavours, back on the plate.
Chatkaro is the tangy, spicy kick of a good Gujarati snack, and every January CES serves it up for three days. From 11 to 13 January, the D.N. High School campus in Anand becomes a food festival, a skill fair and a homecoming for our alumni, all at once.
The food is the heart of it. Stalls bring back the dishes Gujarat is forgetting, from handvo and dhebra to makai nu khichu and dudhiyo bajro, many of them made with millets and other whole grains. Tasty and good for you, the way home cooking used to be.
Entry is free for everyone, and the festival has become one of Anand's favourites, drawing families from across the town and well beyond.
